June 1, 2000 Today is Thursday, and we rested all morning. Because we were so tired from yesterday. Then we went on an afternoon tour. It was five hours long. We took a countryside drive, went to Todaiji Temple, the Deer Park, and the Kasuga Shrine. We took the countryside drive to Nara. Then we wen to the Todaiji Temple. Which the Great Buddha in the world's largest wooden building, and a wonder of religious architecture. The Deer Park was over the Todaiji Temple. There are more then 1,000 tame deer that roam freely in the verdant 1,250 acres. Then the Kasuga Shrine is the most famous and beautiful Shinto shrine in Nara, it features some 3,000 antique stone and bronze lanterns. Then we came home and packed everything. |
